Constance Le Prince Maurice evokes the splendor of a distant era: the spice trade. In fact it was, Prince Maurice of Orange and of Nassau, after whom Constance Le Prince Maurice is named, who pioneered the discovery of those 'divine essences' in the Indian Ocean. Constance Le Prince Maurice is 35 km from the capital, Port-Louis. This luxurious five-star hotel is set within 60 hectares of un-spoilt land, amidst rare and luxuriant vegetation. The resort features 76 air-conditioned junior suites set in buildings with thatched roofs with a maximum of eight suites per building. These are located within tropical gardens at ground or first floor level facing the sea, or on stilts overlooking the fish reserve. The suites comprise of one bedroom with a sitting area indoors and a terrace or balcony, one bathroom with double vanities, separate shower, WC and bath. Junior Suites with connecting corridors are available.
The 12 senior suites are individual thatched-roof villas, nine are with private heated swimming pools and located on the beach and three on stilts overlooking a natural fish reserve. Senior suites are one-bed roomed, have a living room with dining/sitting area with adjacent shower and toilet, walk-in closet, outdoor soaking bath and terrace.
The Princely Suite comprises of two junior suites and one senior suite; with garden/patio, mini kitchen for staff use, terrace/dining area and two swimming pools. Located directly on the beach in a secluded part of the hotel grounds that offer utmost privacy, the Princely Suite also benefits from three individual terraces each facing a different part of the lagoon.
All suites are air-conditioned and equipped with hairdryer, mini bar, TV with internal DVD channels, stereo compact disc and cassette player, telephone/answering machine, in room safe and outgoing fax. Le Prince Maurice offers a delicious range of Mauritian-influenced and international cuisine. L' Archipel restaurant located in the main building, overlooks the pool and the beach. It has three areas two of which are alfresco and very romantic. L'Archipel offers an 'à la carte' menu with light, spicy flavored gourmet food. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Le Barachois with its spectacular setting and entrance is navigated via a snaking gangplank through the mangrove trees; this unique floating restaurant is open for lunch and offers daily specials including grills, seafood and Mauritian specialties. Emerging from this culinary spirit the Laguna Bar overlooks the pool and the beach, to enjoy the unique cocktails while a light melody of the sitar carries you away.

Pamplemousses botanical gardens are known to naturalists throughout the world for their countless species of in indigenous and exotic plants, including the giant Victorial Regia water lilies, and the talipot palm, said to flower once every sixty years and then die.
Among the oddest sites of the island are the seven-colored dunes at Chamarel, believed to result from the weathering of volcanic rocks. These undulating and vividly contrasted layers of earth are a short drive away from the beautiful Chamarel waterfalls.
Set in a magnificent site between Bambous and Tamarin in the Rivière Noire district, the Casela Bird Park hosts some 140 varieties of birds from around the world. The main attraction remains the Mauritian Pink Pigeon, one of the rarest birds in the world, still fighting to avoid the fate of the Dodo. One of the giant tortoises is 150 years old.
Vanilla Crocodile & Tortoise Park has a variety of endemic and exotic plants. In these lush green surroundings where banana and palm trees as well as giant bambous grow, more than a thousand Nile crocodiles are bred. On a guided tour, you will meet these animals in their breeding ponds, in perfect safety.
